Glossary

  • Sensor An image sensor of a physical digital camera.

  • Image Pixel data and meta-data generated by a sensor.

  • Camera A shot taken by a sensor with a given pose (position and orientation).

  • Capture An image acquisition event represented as a set of the participating cameras combined with spatial and temporal information.

  • Camera ID A unique identifier of a camera determined as a function of the image content of the camera.

  • Camera model database A database of physical camera models and their pre-calibrated internal parameters.

  • Input camera A camera with the pieces of information it represents in their original form, that is, as they were captured or registered in the camera model database.

  • Projected camera An input camera spatially adjusted with respect to the chosen projected coordinate reference frame.

  • Calibrated camera A camera whose internal and external parameters are calibrated.

  • Calibration The process of calibrating cameras and reconstructing the captured scene as a sparse 3D point cloud.

  • Densification The process of obtaining a densified point cloud from a sparse point cloud and calibrated cameras.
